Tua Tagovailoa reacts to 5-interception day at practice: 'Now is the time' for mistakes
Former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa is entering his second year with the Miami Dolphins. After an up-and-down 2020 campaign, more is expected of him in 2021.
On Tuesday, he did not have a great day. While the Dolphins were practicing in a torrential downpour, Tagovailoa threw 5 interceptions.
Yes, that’s right — 5 interceptions. But, he’s keeping his head up after the rough session, saying he’s learning now so he won’t make those mistakes when games actually count:
"We wanted to be aggressive today in the passing game… You want to be smart, if there's a time to make mistakes now is the time."

Now then, here comes the part where we defend Tagovailoa for a bit. First, look at the weather the Dolphins were practicing in:
Offense was out here practicing in this tryin be aggressive and throw deep passes all day ? and you wonder why it was a bad day 1 pic.twitter.com/gMla2QlDNJ

Let’s just say if it was raining like that during an actual game, coaches wouldn’t be trying to be “aggressive” in the passing game.
Still, that didn’t stop 1 Miami beat reporter from sharing his disappointment in Tagovailoa:
There is absolutely no excuse for a 5 interception day. I don’t care if it’s a Hurricane. Your starting QB can’t turn the ball over 5 times. And these aren’t aggressive throws either.

Fans seemed to overwhelmingly take Tua’s side in the replies, though, so take that as you will.
All in all, this day seems to be a wash (pun intended) for the former Alabama quarterback.
