Tyler Booker confirms Alabama wants to play for SEC championship: ‘No if, ands or buts about it’
Tyler Booker and the Alabama Crimson Tide improved to 8-2 after defeating Mercer in Week 12. Now, the Tide will finish the regular season with games against Oklahoma and Auburn.
Alabama is firmly in the mix for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Usually, teams would be thrilled to have an opportunity to play in a conference championship game. However, with the expanded Playoff system, some teams reportedly would prefer to be left out of the championship game to avoid getting another loss.
Don’t count Booker as one of those people who wants to miss the game, however. Appearing on The Next Round Podcast, Booker said the Tide definitely wants to play in Atlanta.
“There’s no if, ands, or buts about it…Alabama wants to be in the SEC Championship [Game] and when we get there we want to win it,” said the talented lineman.

Per ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), Alabama and Texas have the best chances to win the SEC Championship. The Tide have wins over Georgia and LSU while the Longhorns have wins over Michigan and Vanderbilt.
Booker mentioned that in Alabama’s indoor practice facility, there are 2 numbers on the wall. One number is the team’s national championship total and the other is the team’s SEC Championship total. Therefore, Booker wants to add another number to the wall by winning in Atlanta once again.
The Tide will play the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 13 before ending the regular season in the Iron Bowl against Auburn.
