UMBC Twitter account has fun with Alabama's account after taking down nation's No. 1 LAX team
During the NCAA Tournament, the UMBC Retrievers knocked off No. 1 Virginia, becoming the first No. 16 seed ever to beat a No. 1 seed.
On Friday, the UMBC lacrosse team knocked off another No. 1 seed — this time, the victim was Albany — and decided to tweet at another No. 1 squad.
As you can see below, the UMBC Twitter account messaged the Alabama football account:
.@AlabamaFTBL hello
— UMBC Athletics (@UMBCAthletics) April 7, 2018
The Crimson Tide quickly responded, asking what the Retrievers wanted:
What’s good?
— Alabama Football (@AlabamaFTBL) April 7, 2018
Then, the UMBC account pulled a version of “We want Bama,” but there was one glaring problem — UMBC doesn’t have a football team:
Just saying hello, we've be having some fun with No.1 teams lately, we don't have a football team, though
— UMBC Athletics (@UMBCAthletics) April 7, 2018
For now, the Crimson Tide are safe, but other No. 1 teams should beware the Retrievers moving forward, as the school is on a major roll when it comes to taking on top teams.
