Few people have the perspective on the upcoming national championship game as Urban Meyer, who has both coached for Ohio State and against Nick Saban. As a Fox Sports analyst, he has digested both teams this season, and offered thoughts on the matchup.

Meyer discussed the game with Joel Sports on “Breaking the Huddle.”

“I watched a bunch of them. I know them very well,” Meyer said. “They win the game because of fundamentals, great players, great technique and working your tendencies. Clemson was more of a ‘we’re going to disrupt you, be all over the place, create a bunch of different looks for you. Alabama is going to line up and play. They disguise a little bit, but not a lot. So it’s going to be a much different game.”

Both teams are ranked in the top five nationally in scoring offense as Alabama is No. 2 at 48.2 points per game, and Ohio State is No. 5 at 43.4 points per game.

“I think Ohio State is going to score some points,” Meyer said. “I saw Florida do it, I saw Ole Miss do it and I think Ohio State is better than those two teams offensively.”

“Now, you’re talking about Alabama’s offense? I haven’t seen anyone even come close to slowing that down. You have three, I think, Heisman winners,” Meyer said. “In their own time, they could have won the Heisman. Obviously, you can’t win them all this year. So this will be a high-scoring game.”

Meyer added that Alabama is very clean on defense and wins games because of fundamentals and great technique. Klatt added that the key comes down to the defensive line for Ohio State to disrupt the timing of the Alabama passing game.
