If Alabama fans have ever wondered about a blinking light that can sometimes be seen on Crimson Tide players’ jerseys, there’s a video that should answer all their questions.

AL.com recently took a look at how the Alabama football team uses the Catapult Sports GPS system to track various speed-related performance statistics during games, practice and training activities.

In the video, Associate AD Jeff Allen uses former RB Kenyan Drake as an example for the various benefits of the technology. After Drake suffered his horrific knee injury in 2014, data from the Catapult system was helpful in the rehabilitation process. Allen also marvels Drake’s famous kick return in the championship game against Clemson, but says a new player has topped Drake’s 23-mph run.
