Prior to last Saturday’s game with LSU, the University of Alabama played a tribute video to Crimson Tide legend Kenny Stabler.
Hosted by Alabama broadcaster Eli Gold, it showed footage from Stabler’s career with the Crimson Tide and the Oakland Raiders, including his famous “Run in the Mud” touchdown against Auburn in 1967. It also included footage from his days as an analyst on Alabama’s radio broadcasts.

Stabler passed away on July 8 after a bout with colon cancer. He was 69.
The video was part of a ceremony honoring Stabler. His family was recognized on the field before the game.
Stabler played at Alabama from 1964-67. He was the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback in 1966 and 1967. After college, he spent 15 seasons in the NFL with the Raiders, Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints. After his retirement, he was an analyst on Alabama football broadcasts for several seasons.
