Video: John Cena appears as Alabama player on Saturday Night Live
On Saturday Night Live this week, professional wrestler/actor John Cena served as the show’s host.
In one segment, Cena, who played Division III football in college, appeared as an Alabama football player.
Alongside two other students, Cena, portraying a star Crimson Tide player, gives a presentation on bananas while the others have to give much more detailed reports.
The professors give Cena a perfect score so he’ll play in the school’s bowl game, simultaneously grading the other students much more harshly.
The entire segment, which pokes fun at the lenient academic requirements on student-athletes, can be seen above.
Oh, well. It’s not like anyone saw it.
So tired of the “southern” stereo types.
Well, stereotypes do exist for a reason and I am from the South. Let’s all just keep in mind this is a comedy skit, don’t take is so seriously.
If you wanted to debunk those stereotypes, you could stop spelling stereotypes as two words.
LOL
Yes, cause this is a real stretch…I am sure making salt crystals or an electromagnet our of nails and a 9v battery is much more accurate.
It’s jealousy, they can’t stand the fact that we’re a juggernaut powerhouse on the football field!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no, it’s not. this actually happens. I’m actually a student at UA. Players have their little check in person but you’d be lying to yourself if you believe that they stay in class. Some of them just get up and leave after the guy walks away from the door.
This also happens at other schools, not just at UA.
Keep telling yourself that. That is why UF cannot take grad transfers for 2 years…because 2 grad transfers did not graduate last year. Think this happens at Bama?
This use to happen everywhere, but fewer and fewer schools engage in this behavior….actually giving a damn about educating their athletes so they have a chance if they do not make it to the NFL.
You clearly have not been paying attention and your comment proves it.
Always a sad state of affairs when those with little to offer throw stones at those who achieve.
Oh I’m sure there’s a lot of this going on in the sec (sans vanderbilt). But the skit is funny. No need to get butt hurt over it.
Exactly! I thought it was pretty funny and I’m a UA grad…people need to lighten up a bit. It’s a comedy skit, not supposed to be taken seriously.
OMG!!! I am so offended by this!!! I am from Alabama!! I may have to protest, or make a video of me crying my heart out, or I may even have to check myself into a retreat for depression!! Oh hell I forgot I am not a liberal and my Momma (god rest her soul) didnt raise no PU**Y! Gee guess I will just have to wake up tomorrow and live my life like it never happened! lol
Can you not see the irony that the Republican President-elect gets pissed when these exact same comedians make fun of him and goes and rants on twitter about it?
I found it funny…..
NBC is still stinging that the south – who was not alone, but will take the blame – did not want Hilary to be president. Note some telling factors:
1) the skit painted people at Alabama as idiots.
2) faces were all white except for one, which was painted. Don’t let anyone tell you that was a mistake.
3) the skit was aimed at academics. In the liberal world, this is the front line of any campaign (along with the media). If professors can not teach students that Democrats should rule the earth, then they are failing and need to think and read some more.
4) the only thing he south can hope to do better is football, and this is only due to a total lack of priorities.
It goes on and on, but don’t miss the real motivation and message.
conspiracy theory much?
1) the 2 other ‘smart’ students are also going to alabama. 2) what message could they possibly be trying to convey with a black guy having his face painted? 3) the skit was aimed at the discrepancy between regular students and athletes at a ‘football school’. 4) the south? speak for yourself. pretty sure its just alabama. if lsu or pretty much any other school was in the playoff, this skit wouldnt have been done.
not everybody lives in your little conservative political victim conspiracy theory bubble, but you just keep on spouting that nonsense, plenty of other morons out there to back you up. honestly, your ilk is just as bad as liberals.
This kind of thing goes on at every school with a big time football or basketball program that I have ever been around. The most unrealistic part of the skit is that no student in the real world would challenge it.
It should have been for admissions instead of projects. Like Jamies Winston getting into Stanford.
Well golly darnaget. We done got our team in a bowel game cause we is one of them smart schools with our acardemics.
dem misipi boys shure ar smart
Yeah, we us
SNL is so biased its not even funny. I stopped watching that crap a long time ago. But to all the butthurt bama fans, get over it. It’s a joke. Not really a funny joke, but still a joke.
Political Correctness is institutionalized in this country, except for insulting the South. Most of our best players are African American. Wonder why they chose to represent our football team with a white player?
It was funny but still pissed me off a little.
LOL I wonder how annoyed they’d be if they realized that their skit showed 2 out of 3 of those southern students were actually brilliant. Just saying..
It really wasn’t even funny. I know some people enjoy SNL but it hasn’t been funny since the days of Eddie Murphy and even then it was questionable. I guess those who still find it funny are also fans of the Keystone Cops and The Three Stooges. That says a lot.
Geez its a joke…..on a show that died years ago.
Little known fact . . . The writer of the skit was rushed to the Emergency Room after writing the skit . . .picked his nose – and head fell in. Bless their heart.
“Whaaaaa! I’m an ignorant doofus who can’t take a joke… Row tawd”!
