Alabama announces home-and-home series with Virginia Tech
Alabama continues to beef up its nonconference schedule with the latest series coming against Virginia Tech.
Crimson Tide fans will now have the ability to travel to Blacksburg to catch their team in action as Alabama has agreed to a new home-and-home series with the ACC program.
The first game in the new series will take place on Sept. 2, 2034, in Blacksburg, Va. The second game is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2035, in Tuscaloosa.
The two programs have met 13 times with Alabama holding a 12-1 all-time record over the Hokies. The two most recently met in the 2013 season opener with Alabama coming away with a 35-10 win in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
This news comes just a day after Alabama announced a new home-and-home series with Florida State. Following these announcements, Alabama fans now have some outstanding nonconference matchups to enjoy in the coming years.
Highlights of Alabama’s upcoming nonconference slate:
I like the matchups with the ACC. The regional matchups are great for the fans and gets a quality opponent without crazy travel..
Arrkkk, great matchups, duma$$. Who ever the coach is that replaces Nick when he retires is SCRUDE, arrrkkk!
Other fan bases will still complain that Alabama’s schedule is too weak. Cry babies. I think Bama has done a good job of scheduling these kinds of match ups moving forward.
Alabama fans are far more important to this decision. An ESPN article about Alabama adding Florida State in 25/26 included this tidbit: “Alabama leads all Power 5 schools with 17 games over the past three years against teams that finished the season ranked in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.” I could only come up with 16 of the 17 games . . ., but in 2016, 2017, and 2018 Alabama had ONE (1) home game each year against a team that finished in the AP Top 25. Alabama season ticket holders deserve better and it looks like they are going to get it!
Well would ya look at that. They’re finally going on the road to play some non-conference games.
Yeah…in 15 years!
I don’t know… According to my math (obviously not learned at LSU) 2022 is way less than 15 years from now.
Ha, Y’all have fun in Blacksburg! I would at least try to find somewhere good to go. That’s a long way to nowhere from Alabama. Campus is all built by using granite and all the buildings look like Clash of the titan castles.
It would be a better trip to go to UVA in Charlottesville. It’s a cool college town with stuff around it to do…Monticello the Trump Winery and a micro brew trail.
Hey! I used to live in Roanoke (just up the road from Blackburg) and that’s a perfectly fine area to visit. Mountains, rivers, great food and a bunch of really good (and cheap) golf courses. The Texas Tavern in Roanoke is a cultural institution.
The golf comment peaks my interest. Are there any Robert Trent Jones Trail courses up there. I’m about a 4 handicap and love to play.
No. But if y’all played UVA you could play Birdwood, the Univ of Va course. Their practice facility is unbelievable. The course is pretty tough as well. But sadly y’all will be in Blacksburg.
If CNS coaches til he is 80 he will coach almost all these games.
