Though Tua Tagovailoa is known as one of the nation’s best passers, he showed early in Saturday’s game against Auburn that he should also be feared as a runner.

The sophomore took a third-down quarterback keeper around the left end for a 7-yard touchdown, putting Alabama on the board first about midway through the opening quarter. Tagovailoa had a nice path cleared by lead blockers Josh Jacobs and Jonah Williams, but he showed some toughness of his own by lowering his shoulder to make sure he crossed the goal line.

The scoring run was Tagovailoa’s 36th touchdown this season, tying him with Jalen Hurts (2016) for the most single-season touchdowns in program history, according to the CBS broadcast.

He’ll likely break that record at some point in this game, especially after the Tigers immediately responded with a touchdown drive.
