When you weigh more than 300 pounds like Alabama DL Da’Ron Payne does, you’re not supposed to be able to move as fast as he does.
During Sunday’s NFL Combine events, Payne turned some heads in the 40-yard dash, recording an impressive unofficial time of 4.91 seconds.
As you can see in the video below, Payne was really flying, and improved significantly on his first run of 5.02 seconds:

The official time was .04 seconds slower, as he clocked in with a 4.95 mark, according to Chase Goodbread:
A few official DL 40s:
Rasheem Green: 4.73 (best of group)
Da'Ron Payne: 4.95
Taven Bryan: 4.98
Trent Thompson: 5.06
Vita Vea: 5.10
Harrison Phillips: 5.21#NFLCombine2018— Chase Goodbread (@ChaseGoodbread) March 4, 2018
Any time under five seconds is outstanding for a big defensive lineman, so Payne’s performance likely makes him an even higher first-round pick.
He is an absolute beast, and could be a game-changing lineman at the NFL level starting this fall.
