As the voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide for 30 years, Eli Gold’s voice has been the soundtrack to some of the most memorable plays in the history of UA football, SEC football and college football. Thirty years in the booth makes for a lot of games and a lot of calls, but AL.com recently asked Gold if he could narrow it down to a top-five all-time calls. He got it down to five games, but six calls.

Gold remembers the most thrilling moments from classic Crimson Tide games such as the 1989 trip to Penn State, the 2012 meeting in Baton Rouge, the 2010 Rose Bowl game against Texas and Tennessee at home in 2009. Gold has a noticeable affinity for the “double thud” of a missed field goal when the game is on the line. And even though it’s the most recent non-spring play he’s called, Gold ranks Tua Tagovailoa’s game-winning touchdown pass on second-and-26 at No. 1.

Tide fans will love reliving these unforgettable plays with Gold’s legendary calls.
