One of the more surprising moves of the offseason was Alabama DC Tosh Lupoi leaving the Crimson Tide to join Freddie Kitchens’ staff with the Cleveland Browns.

Lupoi will coach the Browns’ defensive line in 2019 and beyond, joining Kitchens’ new coaching staff.

Kitchens, a former Alabama quarterback, explained why he hired Lupoi in an interview in Mobile ahead of this week’s Senior Bowl:

“I’ve always heard great things about him from a buddy of mine, (Jeremy) Pruitt up at Tennessee,” he said. “Coach Saban had great things to say about him, and I think he’s a hell of a coach.”

Lupoi does bring a lot of energy to his job, and with the Browns sporting a young defensive line that features former No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in the pro ranks.
