Nick Saban broke his headset in a fit of rage during Saturday night’s 45-34 win over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.
At the time, Alabama was cruising on offense and about to score a TD just before halftime, but three costly penalties moved the Tide’s offense backwards and ended up having to kick a field goal. RT Jedrick Wills committed two of the three penalties, while RB Damien Harris committed the final one that set Saban off.
The Coaches’ Film Room on ESPN News even broke down the viral event.
Following the game, Saban was asked about the moment, and he had a light-hearted reply, “It was more fun throwing oranges.”

Although Alabama is advancing to the national title game against Clemson, the Tide’s offense has several things to clean up. Too many costly penalties against Clemson, and there may be a different outcome than what happened in the Orange Bowl.
