It looks like Alabama DL LaBryan Ray has played himself into a greater role on the Crimson Tide defense.

Head coach Nick Saban said that the original plan was to redshirt Ray, but a number of injuries have forced the coaching staff to shuffle players around. As a result, Ray found himself playing against Texas A&M Saturday in a close game against the Aggies.

Ray performed well and recorded two tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack in the 27-19 Crimson Tide victory. Saban took time to praise Ray’s play during his press conference on Monday, and he says that Ray will continue to play moving forward.

Here is video of Saban’s comments from BamaInsider.com:

Ray’s career is off to a good start, and he will look to continue that strong play against Arkansas. Saturday’s kickoff against the Razorbacks is set for 7:15 pm EST on ESPN.
