Watch Ole Miss' sideline flinch as Alabama's Reuben Foster hammered Ole Miss' Chad Kelly
Reuben Foster is a man amongst boys out on the football field.
Alabama’s star linebacker is a physical specimen. Not only can he cover ground sideline-to-sideline effortlessly, but he can crash through run alleys and absolutely pummel running backs.
This past weekend, some of his hitting ability was on full display against Ole Miss. Rebels’ signal-caller Chad Kelly was running towards the sidelines with an attempt to get of bounds.
He saw Foster careening towards him like a heat-seeking missile. Though Kelly tried to brace himself for the hit by lowering his shoulder, it didn’t matter.

The blast was so vicious, multiple members of the Ole Miss’ team flinched in the aftermath of the hit.
Simply put, Foster is a beast in the best sense of the word.
Best hit was still the one put on Hurts even though he was blindsided and didn’t see it coming. Fosters hit was a good one though.
I don’t really consider targteting a good hit, but I’m glad he’s okay from it.
It was close but there is actually a really good pic taken from the hit that shows it wasn’t helmet to helmet.
Targeting isn’t restricted to helmet to helmet contact.
That hit was absolutely, clearly, targeting.
You simply don’t know the rule.
Go to YouTube, and search for this: “HURTS GOT HURT OLE MISS VS ALABAMA~LEGAL OR ILLEGAL HIT??? ” and play the :32 clip at the top.
What you’ll see is Jalen get hit from the right by a helmet, and you’ll see Jalen’s helmet move first. The impact of Haynes’s helmet hits the lower edge of Jalen’s helmet. And even if he hadn’t hit Jalen’s helmet, he was clearly aiming for it with HIS helmet, and that’s targeting.
So if you guys want to say the officials took away a TD later, then we can say they gave you guys this one by not calling MULTIPLE penalties that would’ve negated this one.
This is targeting. This wasn’t called. This is what I’ve seen pretty much everywhere when anyone in the media is writing about this hit.
In fact, even live and normal speed, you can see Jalen’s head snap to his left and rebound side-to-side. It’s helmet-to-helmet at full speed, but in slow motion it’s very clear.
Watching that 30 second you tube video of the hurts hit, the only thing that is really clear is that at the 6 second mark Cam Robinson is clearly holding, just like they did most of the game.
Like most offensive linemen do most of the game. Watch replays closely enough and you will find it everywhere. Fine line between legal between the shoulders blocking and holding, and between holding that they all get away with and what gets flagged. But it happens all the time.
What doesn’t happen all the time is targeting, like the hit on Hurts.
And to be fair, I thought during the game that Bama committed a block in the back on that punt return for TD. I called it before commentators did, and in replay I think it is borderline and could easily have been called.
airrebel—He is writing about the 2016 game. The one you obviously didn’t watch. Where did you get that pic/video from because many of us are quite sure it was clearly a targeting and even Birmingham said it should have been called. So tell us where you pic/video is so we can see for ourselves, please. Just so you know, a picture can be 100th of a second before or after the hit and would not show it clearly. Did you know that? I promise.
If the hit on Hurts is targeting, we all need a new hobby.
Haynes should be suspended and/or charged criminally for his cheap shot.
Lol
How was it a cheap shot? The quarterback had the ball lol
All Targeting is a cheap shot
Must have been the first football game you watched. It’s a rough game. The way it works is you try and hit the guy with the ball and get him to the ground. That’s called a tackle. Some are harder than others, this one in particular was a very hard tackle. Keep watching, you’ll get it.
Oh lord, really? So you are some kind of expert on all things football? Look human no one will get penalized now, the game is over. Your feelings shouldn’t get hurt by admitting it was a targeting hit. I promise you won’t go to hell or lose your Ole Miss Fan card for doing so. Let me show you how to do it. As mentioned by whiney girl above Cam Robinson got caught holding a couple of times and was penalized. He holds every single play and god forbid SO DOES EVERY OTHER LINEMAN ON EVERY TEAM. There could be a holding penalty every single play. Robinson has been called for holding quite a few times last year and this one so far. That’s just the way it goes. No flag means NO See. Now, I have not gotten a call from UofA telling me to turn in my Bama Fan Card for telling the truth.
They didn’t really flinch. They just got out of the way because they landed on the sideline.
There was a deadball penalty called on this play and it was a bs penalty.
talking about the Haynes hit.
And the Ole Pi$$ fans finally come out of hiding. How did three in a row work out for ya? Never has happened, never will.
The “15 minutes of fame” is up for Ole Miss. They’ll be back near the western cellar next year, with Kelly gone and NCAA sanctions in place.
The hit on Jalen was obviously targeting but of course Ole Pi$$ fans don’t think the rules apply to their team. Just how their coach is running their program. $$$$$$$$$$
Another silly story by a writer who needs something to fill his headline. To normal people they merely jumped or prepared to jump away from getting hit by anyone. That is clearly not a finch. Foster is a hard hitter but the Ole Miss players just got out of the way.
