The Alabama Crimson Tide got into the College Football Playoff this year based on several outstanding performances during the regular season, gaining an edge over Ohio State because the Buckeyes were demolished by Iowa.

Now, the Tide face off against Clemson for the third year in a row, this time with a spot in the national championship game on the line.

But, the parody site The Onion wonders if Monday’s result should harm Alabama’s title chances at all, as you can see in the video below. The host of “The Morning Sweat” believes Bama should make it to Atlanta even with a loss to the Tigers:

“Sure, the haters out there will say their strength of schedule was nothing to shake a stick at, but the SEC is still strong,” the host says. “If you ask me, they’re sitting pretty. Now I know some folks will say ‘But what if Clemson beats them? Shouldn’t that make a difference?’ Sure, what happens on the field counts too, but Bama’s resume is too good to keep them out of the title game. You really think a team that lost to Syracuse this year is more deserving than (Nick) Saban’s crimson and white? Come on!”

Obviously, the video above was all made in good fun, making light of some of the discussions that went on around the College Football Playoff selection show.

Of course the winner of the Sugar Bowl will advance to the title game, and the Crimson Tide will do their best to handle what the Tigers bring to the table.
