While Jalen Hurts saved the day against Georgia, it’s not a stretch to believe Alabama’s national title hopes rest on the recovery of Tua Tagovailoa as he returns from his ankle injury suffered in the 2018 SEC Championship Game.

If you were unaware, Tua has suffered injuries to both ankles in Atlanta, as explained by ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi in the SportsCenter video which was recently released by ESPN.

“Tagovailoa left the game in the fourth quarter after hurting his right ankle but it was the left high-ankle sprain, suffered earlier, that was far more serious,” Rinaldi said in the video.

The video goes on to explain the surgery Tua underwent after the SEC Championship Game. According to Alabama’s physicians, the surgery will not only help his injury in the immediate but in the long term as well.

“No question, this was the most talked about ankle in the history of Alabama,” said orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain.

Here’s the video produced by ESPN, it goes pretty in-depth on what Tua has experienced and his rehab efforts, which he is attacking incredibly hard to return in time for the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma.
