The Alabama-Arkansas game is poised to be the second-most anticipated SEC game on Saturday (No. 9 Tennessee at No. 8 Texas A&M is the top dog this week). While this isn’t a matchup of top 10 teams, it still features the top-ranked team in the country visiting a talented No. 16 Arkansas team. Here are what some media outlets are saying about the game in Fayetteville:

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette posits Arkansas can win the game provided the offense is balanced and the passing game, in particular, is top notch. Keon Hatcher and Dominique Reed will be important, both dynamic players returning at less than 100 percent from recently sustained injuries. The newspaper cites the emotion of the Arkansas offensive line — center Frank Ragnow’s father passing away earlier this week — being a big x-factor.

The Tuscaloosa News wonders if this is the year Arkansas finally breaks through against Alabama. Nick Saban is concerned about the offense struggling in a road game but said the team worked on preparing for a road game atmosphere at practice this week. Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema isn’t giving his team a lot of credit until the Razorbacks actually beat the Crimson Tide.

ESPN argues Alabama has just had fun up to this point in the season. Now, the team faces the ninth-toughest schedule in the country. In fact, getting through Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas A&M is seen as a “minor miracle.”

An ESPN blog points to the struggles of Arkansas’ offensive line after losing three starters from last season’s unit. Difficulties in short-yardage situations against Alcorn State and issues inside the red zone against Texas A&M are presented as specific examples of the Arkansas offensive line woes.

-In a video on ESPN’s Alabama home page, Booger McFarland and Ryen Russillo both agree that either Texas A&M or LSU are the toughest opponents for Alabama during the upcoming four-game SEC West stretch. McFarland says freshmen are like babies and babies make mistakes, so Jalen Hurts is likely to make more mistakes, and some team will take advantage.

AL.com follows a similar argument, but it sides differently. The site sees Jalen Hurts making mistakes but also doesn’t see him making egregious mistakes that cost the team a game, and certainly not against Arkansas.

CBS sees this game as a must-win for Alabama given the three games that follow. For Arkansas, this is a chance to make a statement.

USA Today makes the Allen family connection, noting Austin’s older brother Brandon was 0-4 against Alabama.

-Everyone knows Austin Allen will be a big factor in Arkansas’ success in this game. The Associated Press actually lists Eddie Jackson as the top Alabama player to watch. Jackson had a big interception last season against Arkansas.
