Will Anderson’s multi-penalty performance has CFB fans, media stunned

Will Anderson is having a surprisingly rough day in Austin. The standout Alabama linebacker hasn’t looked like his usual self, committing numerous costly penalties.
We’re used to seeing Anderson as a defensive monster. He ended 2021 with a strong push as a Heisman Trophy contender and entered the 2022 season with notable buzz for the award.
Saturday’s performance in a showcase game is certainly hurting his Heisman hopes. More importantly, the Alabama defense needs Anderson to wake up. The Crimson Tide currently trails Texas 13-10 in the 3rd quarter in Austin.
Here’s a small sample of what fans and media members are saying about Anderson’s uncharacteristic performance:
Are we sure #31 out there is Will Anderson?

Bama's Will Anderson has been called for three offside penalties. Saban will speak with him about that at the break. Tide's 9 first-half penalties is the most in 12 years.

Will Anderson just got a personal foul on a play that was over. This is just unexplainable.

Will Anderson has almost as many penalty yards than Texas as a whole??

If Will Anderson doesn’t chill, his penalty total this season will exceed his sack total last season of 17.5

To his credit, Anderson got his hands on Texas’ field-goal attempt before the half.
For some reason, Fox does not want you to know that Alabama’s Will Anderson blocked that Texas field goal. pic.twitter.com/y7ciW6PFUT

There’s plenty of time for him to come up with another big play.
