A woman has plead guilty in a highly publicized case that’s been called the “Iron Bowl killing.”

According to AL.com’s Kent Faulk, Adrian Laroze Briskey, a 31-year-old woman from Fairfield who fatally shot another woman at a 2013 Iron Bowl party, has plead guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in a “best interest plea.”

In those cases, the person doesn’t admit guilt despite pleading guilty. Briskey was set to go on trial for murder on Monday before she entered the best interest plea.

The shooting, which took place on Nov. 30, 2013, resulted in the death of 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Faulk, Briskey will be given a sentence between 6-and-a-half years and 14 years and four months.

Both women were Alabama fans, and the incident was said to have something to do with the victim not being more upset about Alabama’s crushing loss to Auburn in the infamous “Kick Six” game. However, Briskey’s attorney John Robbins has said the result of the game was in no way a factor.
