Kenny Dillingham was fired up after his Arizona State Sun Devils upset the 16th-ranked Utah Utes on Friday night.

The win was especially surprising considering the low expectations for the Sun Devils in 2024. The team had a preseason win total of just 4.5 games after going 3-9 in back-to-back seasons.

However, with the Week 7 win, the Sun Devils have already cleared their season win total. Arizona State is sitting at 5-1 overall with a 2-1 record in Big 12 play. After his team’s latest win, Dillingham urged his team’s fans to put some of their winnings back into the school’s NIL fund.

“We were picked to win 4 games this year so a lot of Sun Devil fans picked the over in Vegas,” said the coach. “For those of you guys who won, put that money back into the collective.”

Dillingham is a Phoenix native who graduated from Arizona State, so this success has a more personal feeling for the FBS’s youngest head coach.

“You get to have these wins, you get to have another cold one with your friends. You get to have great Saturday nights,” said Dillingham. “That should be enough for you already. Take that money that you’ve won, put it back into these kids, put it back into that collective, let’s enjoy the rest of the year.”

Arizona State hits the road next week to face Cincinnati. With remaining games against Kansas State and BYU, the Sun Devils might be a lurking threat in the Big 12. ASU is currently +3000 to win the conference at DraftKings.
