After leaving school early and declaring himself eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft, Arkansas junior running back Alex Collins unexpectedly dropped all the way down to the fifth round of the draft. While taking a tumble in the draft is never ideal, Collins’ landing spot could prove to be a blessing in disguise as the Seattle Seahawks are known for as a physical and powerful running attack.

For fans of the Razorbacks, that certainly should sound familiar.

Of course Collins eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the third consecutive season – joining Darren McFadden and Herschel Walker as the only three running backs to accomplish that feat in the history of the SEC. If Collins shows enough to get on the field in Seattle, he could prove to be one of the steals of the draft for the Seahawks.

So far so good, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, as Collins scored two touchdowns Sunday during the Seahawks latest scrimmage – both against the first-team defense. Collins scored on a three-yard reception from Russell Wilson and more impressively hauled in a 50-yard pass from backup quarterback Trevone Boykin during a session of No. 2 offense versus Seattle’s No. 1 defense.

If Collins can keep it up, he could find himself being the heir apparent to Marshawn Lynch sooner rather than later.
