It’s been a strong start to the season for the Arkansas men’s basketball team. However, the Razorbacks were without their leader for Tuesday night’s game against Abilene Christian.

Shortly before the start of the contest, Arkansas announced that a member of head coach Eric Musselman’s staff learned of a positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday morning, and Musselman was deemed to be a close contact. Because of that, Musselman did not coach, leaving associate head coach David Patrick to serve as interim head coach.

Musselman is currently quarantining and will continue to be a part of the Razorbacks’ team meetings virtually. It’s possible that he could return after seven days if he doesn’t show symptoms and tests negative on each of the final three days.

According to Andrew Hutchinson of Rivals.com, every Arkansas player was spotted during warmups for the game, so it doesn’t appear any of them were affected by the staff member’s positive test.

The Razorbacks opened the 2020-21 season with seven consecutive wins, and they’ll look to improve to 8-0 with a victory over Abilene Christian.

Musselman is in his second season at Arkansas after leading the Razorbacks to a 20-12 record in 2019-20.
