Arkansas suffered even more bad news on Wednesday when it was reported that standout guard Boogie Fland would miss the rest of the season with an injury.

Now, on Wednesday night, it’s been announced that Fland underwent successful thumb surgery. The surgery was to repair an injury to the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) on his right thumb. Fland originally suffered the injury in the Jan. 11 game against Florida and tried to play through it in the team’s next 2 games. Eventually, it was decided surgery was the best course of action.

As far as whether Fland will return, the program says “there is no timetable for his return.” The statement adds that Fland will continue to work with the Arkansas training staff as he begins his road to recovery.

Fland started Arkansas’ first 18 games this season and led the SEC in minutes played per game with 34:07. The star freshman guard was averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game before the injury.

This is the latest development in what’s been a disappointing season for the Razorbacks. The team had high expectations after landing head coach John Calipari from Kentucky and signing the No. 3 recruiting class in the country in 2024. The team has gotten off to an 0-5 start in SEC play and is 11-7 overall in the 2024-25 season.

Kentucky transfer Adou Thiero leads the team with 16.4 points per game. The team will tip off against Georgia on Wednesday night.
