Barry Odom and Sam Pittman received a nice Thanksgiving gift with the commitment to Arkansas of a one-time South Carolina commit.

Two days after Jayden Johnson of Cedartown, Georgia announced that he decommitted from the Gamecocks, he said he committed to the Razorbacks, and is “1000% locked in.” The safety was the fourth decommitment to South Carolina in the last week and a half since Will Muschamp was fired.

Johnson is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, and is the No. 40th athlete in the country, and the No. 46 player in Georgia. Johnson has a reported 19 offers, including Ole Miss in the SEC along with the teams he’s already committed to this cycle.

When the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder committed to South Carolina, Arkansas was among the other teams he considered closely, along with Georgia Tech and Memphis.

Johnson is the 20th recruit in the 2021 class for the Razorbacks and at least the third defensive back, although the Hogs also have two recruits listed as athletes in the mix. The Arkansas class is ranked No. 21 in the country, and No. 8 in the SEC, according to 247Sports.

This is Pittman’s first announced commitment since September.
