Arkansas drops Game 2 of Super Regional, sets up Sunday showdown for Omaha
Arkansas’ path to Omaha hit a bump in the road on Saturday in Fayetteville, as the Razorbacks dropped Game 2 to N.C. State, 6-5.
Hogs starter Lael Lockhart left after 2 1/3 innings after he gave up one run on two hits, with a walk and two strikeouts.
State’s key inning was a four-run fourth when the Wolfpack hit three home runs. But the Hogs came to life with three runs in the seventh inning when Brady Slavens hit a home run to center field, Charlie Welch scored on an error, and Cullen Smith scored on an RBI single from Jalen Battles.
After Arkansas won Game 1 on Friday, Game 3 is set for a 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Star reliever Kevin Kopps came on in the seventh and sat down six batters, with two strikeouts, as he was the fifth hurler in the game for Arkansas.
On Friday, Arkansas won Game 1 in dominating fashion, 21-2, and entered Saturday leading the nation in home runs with 106, as the Hogs set a school record for most runs scored in an NCAA Tournament game, which broke the previous high water mark of 18 against Missouri State (6/5/15) during the Super Regionals at Baum-Walker Stadium.
And then there was life!@brady_slavens is definitely back.
