Arkansas expected to name former Alabama DB Nick Perry as secondary coach

The Arkansas Razorbacks are expected to name Nick Perry to coach the secondary, according to a report.
That was first reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Tom Murphy on Friday. He will replace a recently departed Deron Wilson, who moved up the career ladder as he accepted the defensive coordinator position at Georgia State in early January.
With the move, Perry will go from serving as the defensive quality control coach for the Seattle Seahawks to working with the Razorbacks’ defensive backs group. He will have a lot of work to do to get the Razorbacks up to par as a unit where Perry will be coaching, considering that Arkansas allowed an average of 246.9 passing yards per game last season, which was near the bottom of the FBS at No. 110 overall. They also ranked 32nd in the nation in passing yards allowed per game (202.8) in 2024.
Perry comes from a strong background that has given him a solid foundation to do just that, though, starting his career off by working as a GA under the legendary Nick Saban at Alabama for the 2017-18 seasons. He then served as an Alabama defensive analyst (2019-20), the Atlanta Falcons defensive backs coach (2021-22) and Falcons wide receivers coach (2023) before arriving to the Seahawks, who he now seems prepared to depart.
He also played defensive back for the Crimson Tide and was a member of Alabama’s 2010 and 2011 national championship teams.
Arkansas has not yet announced Perry’s hiring.
