Arkansas fans, media blast Sam Pittman for Week 13 performance vs. Mizzou
Arkansas fans are not pleased with head coach Sam Pittman after the Razorbacks were blown out 48-14 on Friday night by Missouri.
Arkansas struggled on both sides of the ball for large stretches of the game. Offensively, Arkansas managed only 3.6 yards per play. Defensively, the Razorbacks had now answer for Mizzou running back Cody Schrader, who went for 217 yards in the win.
This disappointing performance caps a down year for Arkansas. The Razorbacks finish the season with just a 4-8 record — the worst mark since Pittman’s first season in 2020.
Despite this loss and Arkansas’ disappointing campaign, Pittman is expected to be retained by Arkansas for the 2024 season. Athletic director Hunter Yurachek announced the decision to keep Pittman for another season earlier this month.
However, Arkansas’ lackluster performance vs. Mizzou has caused some fans and media to wonder whether or not Yurachek could re-evaluate that decision. Arkansas went just 1-7 in SEC play this season, with its lone conference win coming in overtime at Florida on Nov. 4.
Here’s some of the reaction to Arkansas’ big loss to Mizzou:
Was that decision on Sam Pittman written in stone?

281 days til Sam Pittman has a chance to gain favor back with this fanbase. A lot can happen between now and then with hires, roster additions, etc.
But they blew it today. Hard to fathom what happened at home this fall all season

Just a voice blowing in the wind, but it’s hard to see a scenario where Sam Pittman survives this disaster of a season.
The @RazorbackFB program has clearly re-bottomed out.
It’s sad, but anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that now is in complete denial.

Arkansas fans, does this change your opinion of Sam Pittman? Do you think that Hunter Yurachek will reconsider giving him the vote of confidence?
— Barrett Sallee ?? (@BarrettSallee) November 24, 2023
If I’m Hunter Yurachek, I admit I made a mistake. And then I make a change. Wow.

This was the risk of vouching for Pittman before the season even ended…
Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek has painted himself into a red-hot corner with this Razorback fanbase now.
It will be a tougher sell moving forward after today’s home-cooked dumpster fire against Missouri. pic.twitter.com/Osr7xuCUSC

I dont root for anyone to lose their job. But there is no reason to bring back Sam Pittman
Besides the win/loss record and awful product on the field, there is nothing he can do over the next 10 months to win back the fan base.
Ten months of negativity coming. Cut the chord now

At this point @HunterYurachek needs to recant his statement. So stupid to announce that after an FIU win.

Fire his ass before the press conference @HunterYurachek
— Josh Teeter (@joshteeter01) November 24, 2023
In all seriousness, if Sam Pittman still cares about his reputation in the state of Arkansas, he will resign after this football game.
What’s the point of coming back to try to salvage your career when you’ll just end up getting fired after starting 1-4 next year?
— Unbiased Hogs Fan (@Washmachinehog) November 24, 2023
Fire Sam Pittman.
I know you made a statement @HunterYurachek . There has been a material change. This team has no discipline.
The problems are irredeemable under the current staff. You will lose more in ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise sales than the buyout.

If there were any justice a rep from the BoT would be telling Hunter right now that he has two hours to announce that Sam won’t be back or he can start packing his shit too, because the sun isn’t rising tomorrow with Sam Pittman as the head coach at Arkansas.

Keeping Sam Pittman was such a mistake

Good thing Sam Pittman got that vote of confidence.

I’ve supported Sam Pittman all season, but this is brutal to watch. The Hogs look lifeless. What does Arkansas need to do to right the ship? pic.twitter.com/YK12dkcaQS
