Hunter Yurachek has made it clear where Arkansas stands regarding Sam Pittman’s future.

The Arkansas athletics director released a statement Sunday afternoon, announcing that Pittman would be the head coach of the Razorbacks next season.

In the statement, Yurachek stated his confidence in Pittman despite the rocky season.

“Our team was extremely excited last night after the game when I informed them that Coach Pittman is our head coach and will be moving forward into the 2024 season,” Yurachek wrote in the statement. “This has not been the season any of us anticipated. We have work to do. I am confident that together, we can meet the goals and expectations of our program. I want to thank the many Razorback fans who have supported our team this season. I look forward to honoring our seniors and cheering on this team on Friday as we take on Missouri.”

Outside of a win over Florida, it’s been a disappointing season for Arkansas. The Razorbacks are out of bowl contention and are threatening to end the season with just one SEC win, which would be the worst SEC record since Pittman’s first season at Arkansas in 2019.

While Pittman has not shown any improvement this season, he offers something Arkansas has been searching for over the past decade plus: consistency at head coach. If Pittman were fired, it would be Arkansas’ third head coach firing in the past decade.

While it wasn’t a promising season for Pittman and the Razorbacks, Yurachek obviously trusts Pittman to turn things around.
