Arkansas has made some big league moves this offseason when it comes to the addition of graduate transfer quarterbacks Ben Hicks from SMU and Nick Starkel from Texas A&M. According to Chad Morris, his program is “always in the market” to add players that could help.

One position that’s currently thin this spring in Fayetteville is at linebacker as De’Jon Harris has been declared out for the spring and Hayden Henry has been limited early on in camp. Adding to the team’s issues at the position, Arkansas missed out on two linebacker recruits on National Signing Day.

While that was bad news back in February, those decisions could ultimately leave a scholarship available for a graduate transfer linebacker to come into the program at some point this offseason. Morris was asked about that possibility during his latest media availability.

“We are always in the market for anything that can help us or any position addition that would help us and that’s one of them that is at the top of our list right now,” Morris replied. “That’s something we have definitely talked about and I know we are on top of. But again, goes back to what we were talking about with Chase Hayden — Giovanni LaFrance, D(eon) Edwards are getting plenty of reps right now.

“Bumper Pool and Grant Morgan, to bring those guys along is an opportunity for them. They will come out of spring and as you come out of spring, you get all these reps in and you just haven’t done it, heck, it’s not because you didn’t get the reps. You are getting the reps, what are you doing with them? I’m pleased with that we have got to address the depth there.”

Sounds like Morris likes the linebackers he has available to work with this spring but if they don’t get it done, they can’t say they weren’t given a chance to show what they can do to help the defense in 2019.
