A veteran offensive lineman has announced his football playing days are over.

Colton Jackson, an Arkansas senior, said in a tweet that back surgery ultimately caused him to make this decision as he called it “disappointing” when you put in countless hours of practice, training and rehab each week, “for it not even come close to be reflected through your performance and on film.”

He thanked all of his position coaches and head coaches at Arkansas, from Bret Bielema and Sam Pittman, to Chad Morris and Dustin Fry.

“I’ve had an amazing experience in my 5 years at this University,” he tweeted. “Even though it hasn’t ended as planned. … I’ll always love and be a Hog.”

Last year, Jackson played in 10 games for the Razorbacks, and started eight of the last nine at left tackle. In 2017, he started 10 of 12 games played at left tackle, and played the third-most offensive snaps on the team. As a redshirt freshman, he started three games at right tackle. He’s a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The 6-5, 298 pounder is a native of Conway, Arkansas. He was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school, who was ranked as the fifth-best player in Arkansas by 247Sports.
