Lawton Nalley, the Arkansas associate professor who was arrested Saturday night for yelling obscenities at Arkansas coach Bret Bielema following the Razorbacks’ 49-30 loss to Alabama, has issued a statement apologizing for his actions that night:
“I embarrassed myself, the college and the university. I hold myself to higher standards and have no excuses for my actions. I especially want to apologize to Coach Bielema.”

Nalley’s actions were caught by the local media, making his arrest common knowledge immediately after the game.
The media release also includes a statement from the dean of Nalley’s college confirming that he will remain employed by the university.
Bielema maintained his sense of humor about the situation on Monday:
Bret: Said he has not heard from professor who yelled obscenities at him, but was impressed he pronounced 'Bielema' properly
