Arkansas QB Lucas Coley says he is entering the NCAA transfer portal after a redshirt season with the Razorbacks.

Coley shared the news via his Twitter account.

A Cornerstone Christian product from San Antonio, Coley committed to Arkansas on June 11, 2020, and signed with the Razorbacks as part of the 2021 recruiting class. On the 247Sports Composite, Coley was rated 3-stars, the No. 50 quarterback, No. 103 Texas recruit and No. 726 prospect overall in the class. He chose Arkansas over 33 other scholarship offers, including Vanderbilt.

If Coley transfers out, Arkansas will be left with 2 scholarship quarterbacks: KJ Jefferson and Malik Hornsby. As Matt Jones of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette notes, USF transfer Cade Fortin joined the program as a walk-on.

Coley’s decision to enter the portal comes hours after Razorback defensive lineman Mataio Soli made a similar announcement.

Entering the transfer portal does not bind a player to transferring out, though the scholarship is no longer guaranteed. Players occasionally withdraw from the portal and return to the team. Earlier this year, Hornsby withdrew his name from the portal roughly a week after entering.
