It took Arkansas a little less than 3 minutes to score its first touchdown of the 2024 season.

Two minutes and 52 seconds to be exact.

Senior running back Ja’Quinden Jackson bolted into the endzone with ease from 8 yards out, giving Arkansas a very, very early 7-0 lead over in-state SWAC opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Sure, the Razorbacks are almost a 50-point favorite in the season opener, but it will still an impressive way for them to get things rolling in a season where fiftth-year head coach Sam Pittman is under tremendous pressure to produce results.

Jackson is a transfer from Utah, so his Arkansas tenure couldn’t have started any better on the very first drive of the season.

Then on the Hogs’ second drive, lightning struck again from a transfer, as former Boise State transfer quarterback Taylen Green scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to give Arkansas a 14-0 lead less than 7 minutes into the game.

Coming off a 4-8 season in 2023 where the Razorbacks only won 1 SEC game, Thursday night’s start was a welcome sight, especially with Arkansas getting immediate contributions from 2 high-profile transfers.

And if the first 2 touchdowns weren’t enough, the electrifying Jackson added a 46-yard touchdown run to give the Hogs a 21-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game. At that point, Jackson had already piled up 74 yards on just 5 carries.

Bobby Petrino’s first season back in Fayetteville is off to a hot start.
