The Arkansas Razorbacks’ quarterback race is officially over, at least for now.

Bret Bielema announced that junior quarterback Austin Allen will be the starter.

Allen is the younger brother of Brandon Allen, and there’s no surprise that he’s named the starting signal caller for 2016. He was the best all-around player at the position this spring.

The Razorbacks’ offensive coordinator Dan Enos better explained Allen’s strengths earlier this spring.

“A combination of all of them,” Enos said of Allen. “He’s a really good passer, really good arm strength, good mobility, a really hard worker and he really has a good grasp of what we’re doing too.”

Allen battled Rafe Peavey, freshman Ty Storey and USC transfer Ricky Town for the starting gig this spring, and he went 1-of-3 passing for 35 yards and one touchdown in 2015. Enos called Peavey the team’s “best pure passer” earlier this spring.
