WATCH: Bobby Petrino issues emotional apology to Arkansas fans, receives standing ovation
We will always remember how Bobby Petrino’s tenure at Arkansas ended: wreck on a motorcycle with a mistress who he had hired in the athletic department and a press conference with a beat-up Petrino in a neck brace.
The coach returned to the Natural State on Monday to speak to the Little Rock TD Club where, despite the way things went, received a standing ovation from the crowd.
The cause for the welcome reception? Petrino, maybe for the first time since his dismissal in 2012, apologized for how everything went down.
“I’ve had a lot of people ask me about it and I wanted to be able to come here and to apologize to everybody, the fans, the players, and truly tell you how sorry I am for the way it ended,” Petrino said while getting choked up. “But I also wanted to come here to thank you for everything people in this room, in this state, did for me and my family. You were great to us. You are a special, special group. Special crowd. You don’t really understand how much of an effect you have on players and their families.”

As a Falcons fan, I wouldn’t cry if he crashed another motorcycle. One of my favorite teams every week is whoever is playing against him.
Thanks Bobby! Hate how things ended but loved how fun it was while you were here. Good luck
Good Ol’ Quitrino….
Hmmmm
Sounds like someone is planting seeds to be Arkansas next head coach
HE DID NOT APOLOGIZE!!!
FFS, people.
He said he was “sorry for the way it ended,” meaning with him getting fired.
He didn’t apologize for hiring his mistress to a tax-payer funded job for which she was unqualified.
He didn’t apologize for leaving the program in shambles, like he’s left everywhere he’s ever been.
He’s simply sorry he got caught. That’s it.
Disagree. He clearly stated wanted to apologize to everyone AND for how it ended up. Time to forgive and move on corch…
Never know with the way the offense has been going may need an offensive coordinator at the end of the year
I’d take that but I’m not sure Bobby is capable of being a subordinate.
Idk if he would have a choice
I hear ya and agree. I’m just saying he has a bulldog isolationist personality. Lets be real, it’ll never happen. Its far more likely that Lane Kiffen will be fired at FAU and Arkansas hires him as the OC.
