The Arkansas Razorbacks made the hiring of former SMU coach Chad Morris official on Wednesday, and Morris will try to turn the Hogs’ program around after a tough 2017 season.

Morris replaces Bret Bielema, who was fired after a season-ending loss to the Missouri Tigers the day after Thanksgiving.

Normally, fired coaches want nothing to do with their former program (with LSU’s Les Miles being a notable exception), but on Wednesday evening, Bielema congratulated Morris on landing the Arkansas job in a classy tweet:

Bielema’s tenure in Arkansas took a sharp nosedive in 2017, but before that, he actually found some moderate success in Fayetteville.

Therefore, Morris does have some standards he’ll need to live up to if he wants to stay at Arkansas longer than Bielema did.

As for Bielema? His search for new work goes on, though he may be more than happy to take the 2018 season off to spend time with his wife and newborn child.
