Could Chad Morris’ time as the head coach at Arkansas be nearing an end?

The Razorbacks’ coach was asked about his future after Saturday’s 45-19 home loss to Western Kentucky, and he made it clear that things were never going to turn around for the program immediately.

“Well, I’ll tell you this — it’s going to take some time,” Morris told the media. “This is not an overnight fix. We’ve been at it now for two years. We’re all frustrated. We’re all incredibly frustrated. We have a big youth movement on this team. A lot of young guys are contributing and are going to be tremendous football players. Where we are right now with these guys, we have some major deficiencies. We have to fix and we have to fill. But this is not an overnight fix.”

Morris is 4-18 in his first two seasons at Arkansas. Last year, the Razorbacks went 2-10, which included going 0-8 in SEC play. Things haven’t gone any better this season, as Arkansas is now 2-8 and is 0-6 in conference games.

But Saturday’s loss was one of the Razorbacks’ worst in the Morris era. Western Kentucky cruised to a 28-point halftime lead, and it was former Arkansas quarterback Ty Storey leading the Hilltoppers’ offense.

The Razorbacks have two challenging games to end the season. After next week’s bye, they have a road matchup at LSU followed by a home contest against Missouri in the season finale. So, it’s quite likely that Arkansas could have its second straight two-win season.

Time will tell if the Razorbacks opt to keep Morris around or if change could be on the horizon.
