This game is personal: Auburn defender says Chad Morris has shared insight on Arkansas' roster
While there may be better games this weekend in the Southeastern Conference, you could argue that the Arkansas-Auburn showdown on The Plains features the best storyline heading into Week 3.
For obvious reasons, Chad Morris was been front and center all week when discussing this matchup and will remain that way until the game clock strikes zero Saturday night on The Plains.
Many Arkansas fans want a win in this game more than any other this season while Auburn’s offensive coordinator likely wants to show the program that fired him less than two years into his rebuild job in Fayetteville that they made the wrong decision.
In a move many Razorback fans saw coming, Arkansas has already drastically improved on the field two games removed from the Morris’ era on The Hill while Auburn’s offense is coming off a disastrous performance on the road at Georgia.
With Bo Nix now in his second season starting for the Tigers, the quarterback’s progress on the field has been minimal — at best.
If Auburn can’t find a way to beat Arkansas this weekend, Morris may find himself once again on a hot seat early in his tenure at a school.
However, according to Auburn linebacker Owen Pappoe, Morris has been giving the Tigers’ defense tips on Arkansas’ roster this week.
Here is what Pappoe had to say when asked if Morris give Auburn an advantage headed into Saturday’s game.
“Yeah, definitely,” Pappoe said. “He lets us know what kind of players all those guys are so it gives us better insight into who we are playing against.”
That’s a comment Arkansas fans will likely get a chuckle out of heading into the weekend.
We’ll find out soon enough how much of an advantage (or disadvantage) having Morris on staff at Auburn proves to be for the Tigers.
Maybe it’s just me, but these don’t look like the same players from last year or the year before.
Check the roster they are the same players
They are technically. They are NOT mentally. These guys were lazy and unmotivated by Morris and company. These guy are highly motivated now and it’s obvious.
Chad Morris was not actually “welcomed” into the Auburn fold when he was tapped as the OC there. My thinking is that Auburn’s problems lie much deeper than Chad Morris…like an offensive line. The big question is IF they struggle against the Hogs will Gus take back the play-calling duties as he has done in prior years ?
So he’s giving scouting reports essentially. Sounds like a coach.
Morris has already shown in ineptitude in the 2 weeks of play at Auburn. Arkansas was right to ditch him and Auburn will learn the hard way its seems. The guy is a high school coach at best. Keep in mind, he was a nobody until he asked for Mazlan’s help. If it weren’t for Malzahn, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. I have to think Malzahn will call the plays Saturday just to save face because Arkansas looks ready to play bog boy football again.
Has nothing to do with my comment but okay.
You guys beat MSST. Calm down.
Morris probably wasn’t much insight for the defense because in two years he couldn’t even figure out how to evaluate or utilize their talent.
This guy is such a joke. Took Sam 2 games to do what Morris couldn’t in 2 years. I hope Auburn is listening to him this week cause that means a Hog W
It’s easy for Ark to have “us against world” mentality for now but talent and depth usually prevail.
I don’t think Morris really knows the players strength or weakness’s. At least he didn’t show that ability the last 2 years. Better coached players play better.
calm down? who is not calm and who are you the boss of?
I have very little fear of the football knowledge Cad give Auburn players if they know what I know tell him to keep it to his self
