Chad Morris sheds light on what Arkansas fans can expect for his first spring in Fayetteville
The official start of the Chad Morris era in Fayetteville begins this week as the Razorbacks will hit the practice field for the first time under the program’s new coach.
While Arkansas fans should have a good idea of what recruiting will be like under Morris, his coaching staff has hit the recruiting trail with unmatched enthusiasm and travel plans from a Razorback staff, they have yet to see what the new face of the program has in mind for his players on the field.
In order to get that message out there, Arkansas released a spring promotional video for its fans Wednesday morning. In the video, Morris explains what he and his staff have done in preparation for the spring as well as provide info on what’s to come for players this spring in Fayetteville.
The Arkansas spring football session begins Thursday, March 1 and concludes Saturday, April 7 with the Red & White Game in Little Rock:

Not to be a pessimist but I just don’t see Morris as even a meat eater. He seems soft, like a vegan. The man has a coaching record of 14-23 in the AAC. If he’s getting throttled by teams in the AAC, I’ll be amazed if he can even keep his head above water in the SEC.
All that being said, I bet Ole Miss STILL finds a way to lose to Ark. We just can’t beat them.
Time will tell. Bret Beilema was coming off 3 big 10 titles and 3 rose bowls and was a horrible coach for Arkansas. I love Chad Morris’ energy and he’s saying and doing all the right things so far. His AAC record is a lottle slanted because he took over a SMU squad that was in a complete dumpster fire. He vastly improved them while he was there. They still couldn’t play defense, which is why CM sought the experience of The Chief. Not one down of football has been played yet though. Time will tell.
So a man who had three Big 10 titles and three Rose Bowls couldn’t survive in the SEC. What do you think’ll happen to a man who couldn’t survive the AAC at all? I literally can’t come up with an analogy to describe what I think will happen to him. Maybe a baby goat in a pin full of ravenous wolves is about as close as I can get.
It is about getting the right players in the right system. Coach Morris knows that for Arkansas to be successful in football, they MUST be a strong recruiter in Texas. As much as I liked Coach B. he just didn’t get it. He alienated too many of the Texas high school coaches and his recruiting in Texas struggled.
I am not worried about Coach Morris’s record at SMU. He turned them into a winner. He put in the offense that took Clemson to the next level. I think he really could be the right person for the job.
I really don’t mean to be offensive or sound ugly about it. It’s really just common sense to me.
As long as he is not calling escort services from a university phone, I’m ok with Chad Morris.
Or getting into motorcycle accidents, exposing adultery.
Lol I can’t believe you just went there after a former coach of Arkansas was balls deep (pun intended) in a scandal himself.
Except Petrino was fired. Freeze resigned.
The point is, you’re throwing shade at Ole Miss’ former coach when Arkansas’ former coach screwed up too? You don’t see the irony in that? I see you’re not quite ready to have this conversation so I’m just going to leave it be.
I had the same thinking you did about his record at SMU. but looking at it further. The academic standards at SMU are higher than most 4 and 5 star recruits can get into. That’s why June Jones left. He couldn’t get help with qualifying some 4 star athletes that had to go elsewhere. Morris did improve SMU every year. He will be able to recruit those types of athletes that he couldn’t get an SMU and plus, we will be respected again in the Texas High Schools after Bielema shot his mouth off about their offensive schemes down there.
I just don’t know about this guy. I get that he is responsible for some of Clemson’s success and that he has improved SMU every year. Still when I read articles about what he is saying – I just don’t get a warm fuzzy over him. I’ll give the man five years. Won’t be too critical his first year – but I do have reservations about him and his staff and the type of football he likes to play.
I agree with you on all of that. I’m just not totally sold on the guy yet. Seems more like a gymnastics coach than a smash mouth SEC football coach. Having said that, and the condition Ark is in right now, I’ll be surprised if Morris sees a bowl game this year. But like I said, Ole Miss will probably still lose to them!
