Departing Arkansas DB Myles Mason announces transfer destination
After three seasons on The Hill, Myles Mason is heading to The Boot. The departing Arkansas defensive back announced his transfer commitment to Lousiana Tech on Wednesday, via his Twitter account.
Out of Trussville, Alabama, Mason signed with the Razorbacks as part of the 2018 recruiting class. Over the last three seasons, Mason appeared in 27 games, including seven this past season. In his time at Arkansas, he recorded 58 total tackles, including 1.5 TFL.
Mason’s online bio highlights his 2020 season performances against Ole Miss and LSU, noting he recorded nine tackles in each of those games. Mason totaled 25 tackles in his true junior season.
Mason will again be considered a true junior entering the 2021 season. If he does not get an NCAA waiver to play in 2021, he has a redshirt season available to use.
Must have been some private factors in this strange decision to transfer out of a P5 with good play time prospects to a G5 that hasnt been relevant in years and playing in arguably the weakest G5 conference. From the outside, ????

I wouldn’t say La Tech hasn’t been “relevant,” just not on a big stage. But yeah makes you wonder what’s going on with Mason?
I guess I’m thinking how they have slipped behind the Louisiana Rajun Cajuns. And to me there is no question that the CUSA is at least for now not near the level of the Sun Belt. So why exit for such a low stage when you were in line for lots of snaps in a P5. Things we dont know, none of our business when players make these moves. But its not like he was 3 or 4 down in the depth chart.
Yeah it’s true UL-Lafayette has come on strong lately and the Sun Belt looks better than CUSA. Went to both schools and that game is huge, but definitely more fun down in Cajun Country. Good luck to Mason it’ll be interesting to maybe hear what happened someday…
