Arkansas’ permanent offensive coordinator position is still vacant, and Dowell Loggains’ name continually pops up as a potential hire.

A few weeks back, the Razorbacks fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos. He was dismissed after Arkansas lost 7-3 to Mississippi State and fell to 2-6 on the season.

Loggains, currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at South Carolina, was born and raised in Newport, Arkansas. He played for the Razorbacks and was even the programs’ tight end coach between 2021 and 2022.

At the Gamecock’s press conference on Wednesday, Loggains said his wife is from Arkansas and was a cheerleader for the Razorbacks.

Before Loggains even answered the reporter’s question about being considered as Arkansas’ new OC, he immediately shook his head no.

“I don’t want to give coach talk,” Loggains said. “I don’t want to be that guy.”

Loggains noted he understands why his name is coming up for consideration.

“I had an unbelievable opportunity to go back and coach at my alma mater, which is awesome,” Loggains said. “I hope everyone who says that inspires to get that (opportunity).”

But, Loggains added, he believes in coach Shane Beamer.

“I believe in what we do here,” Loggains said. “It’s disrespectful to think about anything other than my promise I made to Spencer Rattler and … other guys I try to recruit back.”

Despite the Gamecocks sporting a 4-6 record so this season, Loggains is sticking by his fellow coaches and players.

“The season isn’t going the way we wanted, but I’m extremely appreciative of the toughness this team has had throughout the season,” Loggains said.

More importantly, Loggains noted his family is happy in South Carolina.

“I’m happy here, my wife is happy here and my kids are happy in school,” Loggains said. “I’m being as honest and transparent as I can be. I believe in what’s going on here. I hope everyone else does.”

South Carolina hosts Kentucky this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
