Former Arkansas DE and current New Orleans Saint Mitchell Loewen helped save a man’s life on Sunday after a car plummeted from the fourth floor of a New Orleans parking garage.

Loewen and his family were having brunch when he heard what he described as a “bomb going off.”

That sound was a silver SUV crashing through a concrete barrier and falling four stories to the ground with a man still inside.

Loewen ran to the crushed vehicle and rallied others around him to help.

“There were a bunch of people standing around, but not approaching the car and I was like, ‘what’s up, let’s help this guy,'” said Loewen via Nola.com.

Loewen and around nine other people helped flip the car to its upright position, and the NFL lineman then ripped the car door off its hinges. He was then able to free the trapped man.

“He didn’t say much, he was just thanking us all. I hugged him and told him he was going to be OK, and then I prayed with him,” Loewen said. “It was a life-changing experience … I just did what I had to do, and I wasn’t thinking about anything else.”

The extent of the man’s injuries is unknown, but he is expected to survive, thanks to Loewen and a few helpful bystanders.

Loewen went undrafted out of Arkansas in 2016 but signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent on May 2, 2016.
