Bobby Petrino is set to return to Arkansas, but it won’t be to coach against the Razorbacks.

The Little Rock Touchdown Club has scheduled the former Arkansas coach to speak to its group on Sept. 9. Initially, plenty of Razorback fans are disappointed with the move as they blame Petrino for the program being in bad shape now two coaches removed from Petrino’s departure.

The club has a star-studded list of speakers, as Chad Morris, Ryan Mallet and Mark Richt are all scheduled to speak before Petrino. Bill Snyder, Urban Meyer, Houston Nutt, Greg Sankey and Herschel Walker are also scheduled.

Petrino coached the Razorbacks to a 34-17 record in four seasons before he was fired ahead of the 2012 season. Petrino was fired after a motorcycle crash that involved a former player on the women’s volleyball team, which led to an investigation that revealed that Petrino had lied about it to the university.

Petrino then coached at Western Kentucky for one season, and Louisville for five seasons before he was fired as the Cardinals were 2-8, and shortly after they lost their seventh straight game in 2018.
