ESPN play-by-play commentator Chris Fowler was the latest to look at Arkansas’s dismal performance at South Carolina and wonder what’s next for the Razorbacks.

Fowler, who will call Arkansas’ game at Alabama Saturday night with Kirk Herbstreit, had a message for the players. In an interview with Bo Mattingly, Fowler was blunt in his assessment of Arkansas following the 48-22 loss at South Carolina.

“I’m seeing a team that better summon some pride,” Fowler said. “Because when I watched the South Carolina game, you go in there as a favorite, as you know, and get wallopped, and get worn down on defense after halftime and get deflated by a late touchdown. Those are all bad signs.”

“You cannot come in here with a deer-in-the-headlights look and be a team that lacks resolve and resiliency,” Fowler continued. “You’re going to get hammered. Alabama has had first-round knockouts. Some teams you think, OK, if we can just get it to halftime or the third quarter, get it to the fourth quarter with a chance to win. With Alabama, you’ve got to get out of the first quarter.”

The Razorbacks (2-3, 0-2) haven’t defeated the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0) since 2006, a streak of 10 games.
