Arkansas made a surprising move last week by firing AD Jeff Long, which seemingly puts coach Bret Bielema’s future in doubt, especially after the Razorbacks’ season ends on Friday.

However, as Arkansas fans prepare for a potential search for a new head coach, SEC Network host Dari Nowkhah cautions them on aiming too high.

As you can hear below in the clip from “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly,” Nowkhah says Arkansas fans are losing their grip on reality and playing a dangerous game with some of the rumors that are swirling:

“I just think people there have lost complete and utter touch with reality,” he said. “It’s coming across to me as a fan base that wants to win at every single cost imaginable. Arkansas fans, my fear is that if Bobby Petrino says he wants to come back to Fayetteville, he’d be there tomorrow, if it were up to Arkansas fans. Does character mean anything?”

Of course, it’s hard to hire a new coach while your old one is still in place, so the Hogs will have a big decision to make this weekend. However, if they do get rid of Bielema, Nowkhah cautions against throwing morals out the window when making a new hire.
