Lucas Coley is headed back to his home state. On Friday, the departing Arkansas quarterback announced his transfer commitment to Houston.

Coley departs Sam Pittman’s program after a redshirt season with the Razorbacks. He announced he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal last week.

A Cornerstone Christian product from San Antonio, Coley committed to Arkansas on June 11, 2020, and signed with the Razorbacks as part of the class of 2021. On the 247Sports Composite, Coley was rated 3-stars, the No. 50 quarterback, No. 103 Texas recruit and No. 726 prospect overall in the class. He chose Arkansas over 33 other scholarship offers, including Vanderbilt.

The Razorbacks are down to 2 scholarship QBs, KJ Jefferson and Malik Hornsby, with Coley’s departure. Cade Fortin, a former 3-star recruit, joined the Hogs earlier this year as a walk-on. Fortin had 16 scholarship offers when he signed with North Carolina out of North Gwinnett (Georgia) high school in the class of 2018. He transferred to USF on Jan. 1, 2020, and to Arkansas on Jan. 17, 2022.
