Thanks to the Early Signing Period, there weren’t many elite quarterbacks available for college programs across the nation to pursue leading up to National Signing Day, as so many quality signal-callers signed during the first signing period on the recruiting calendar.

Following the Early Signing Period, the highest-rated quarterback remaining on the board was Texas native Malik Hornsby. With so few options available and programs across the country looking to add quality depth at the game’s most important position, the 2020 All-American Bowl representative found himself in high demand.

When you take that into consideration, it makes the job Arkansas did recruiting Hornsby all the more impressive as the Fort Bend Marshall product announced live during a National Signing Day special on ESPNU that he has joined Sam Pittman’s Razorback program.

Following this news, Arkansas has the nation’s No. 29 recruiting class for the 2020 cycle. Keep in mind, the Razorbacks’ recruiting class was ranked outside the top 100 when Pittman took over in Fayetteville back in December.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Hornsby is rated as a four-star prospect the nation’s No. 8 dual-threat QB and the No. 30 overall prospect from the state of Texas by 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is now the second-highest rated prospect in the 2020 Arkansas recruiting class.
