Razorback football may be on hold at the moment but that isn’t going to stop Sam Pittman and company from working hard on the recruiting trail during their time away from the Arkansas football offices.

The latest example of that? The Razorbacks just landed a commitment from the state’s top linebacker prospect as Forrest City native Marco Avant announced his commitment on Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Jonesboro High School standout is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 4 overall recruit from the state of Arkansas and the No. 50 outside linebacker prospect in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Assistant coach Rion Rhoades serves as Avant’s primary recruiter for the Razorbacks.

Following this news, Arkansas now holds two commitments in the 2021 recruiting cycle as Avant joins offensive lineman Terry Wells as the only current commits in the Razorbacks’ most recent recruiting class. Wells is also an in-state player from Wynne High School.

During his previous two seasons on the field for Jonesboro High School, Avant has registered 150 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, four sacks and seven forced fumbles during his junior and sophomore seasons.
