Arkansas has had a lot of momentum recently with a host of players announcing they would return to the Razorbacks in 2021. But one defensive starter has reportedly entered the transfer portal.

Defensive back Myles Mason, who started three of the final four games, has entered the transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported. He finished the season with 33 tackles. Mason is a junior from Trussville, Alabama. He got a start against Missouri, and registered nine tackles in the win over Ole Miss, then made nine tackles against LSU. He also started last season against Missouri.

The previous two seasons, Mason played in 20 games for the Razorbacks after he arrived as a top 15-prospect in the state of Alabama by 247Sports.

The Mason news is the first negative personnel development in a while for Arkansas. Before the Texas Bowl matchup with TCU was canceled on Tuesday, the Razorbacks had a host of positive developments.

First-Team All-SEC linebacker Grant Morgan, starting left tackle Myron Cunningham, starting right guard Ty Clary, receiver De’Vion Warren, tight end Blake Kern and running back TJ Hammond have all announced their decisions to return in 2021. The Texas Bowl could’ve been a chance to turn the page to 2021 and add to that momentum.

Arkansas finished the season with a 3-7 record, including a four-game losing streak to end the campaign.
